In Sherwood Andersons, “I Want to Know Why”, a story is narrated thru the eyes of a young man eld 15 and the day his childhood innocence ends. The boy goes on an adventure with four other boys from his Kentucky town to Saratoga to drive the annual horse races. The give out is a long one, and in the end leaves the boy with a question that troubles him all the assertion home and for just about cartridge holder. Why? The boy has always drag on he has a strong understanding and love towards horses and trainers and upon arriving at the races he sees the horse which he thinks will supercharge and shares what he thinks is a sorcerous moment with the trainer, Jerry Tillford. The boy looks into the eyes of twain the horse and the trainer and cries kno get throughg the horse Sunstreak will win the race. The boy has no clear understanding on how he knows this, yet he makes the right choice when Sunstreak wins while shift the speed record. This only enhances th e narrators idea of what he feels is a wizardly moment. After the race the boy, heads off to find the trainer to discover his admiration and respect at a local farmhouse where he then sees Jerry Tillford. Looking thru a window the boy sees his cuneus Jerry sitting with a prostitute drinking and bragging on how he won the race.

After Jerry kisses the woman, the boy feels a ball and disgusting feeling in his stomach and perhaps his soul. travel home, the boy tells nobody what he saw or what took place. some(a) time later the boy returns to the stables and tracks, yet feels no sense or compassion towards the h orses or the sport itself. His feelings of j! oy that he once had have now gone and left him with a rising feeling. The emptiness felling the boy goes thru leaves him with an eternal question. Why?
